Manual Wheelchairs are defined as wheelchairs that require a person to move the chair from place to place. A transport wheelchair requires an attendant to move but
many typical manual wheelchairs can be pushed by either an attendant, or the occupant. Some other common types of manual wheelchairs include folding, rigid,
light weight and ultra-lightweight, shower, beach, standing, reclining and tilt-in- space. There are available some power options on some manual wheelchairs, such as
the Smart Drive ® power assist to help push a manual wheelchair, and there are some standing wheelchairs that feature a motorized lift feature, but still require the occupant to move the chair from place to place on their own. For more questions, please don’t hesitate to call 1-877-234-2018.
